Preschool Program: Roxann is in charge of the preschool program. She home schooled her own children for 8 years and has designed her own, high quality preschool program which includes everything your child needs for school readiness plus so much more. We teach sign language and we have some montessori type learning activties throughout the playroom for the children to do on their own. We add at least one art activity to our program everyday. We have circle time , read books, sing songs and do finger plays. We do not force children to do activities they are not ready for and we let the children learn at their own pace. We believe in making learning fun!
Outdoor Play: The children play outside one to two times a day. We have a large fenced in backyard with lots of activities. We also have a large park with walking paths 4 blocks from our daycare that we walk to frequently. We allow the older children to ride their bikes while we walk with them. During the summer we have water day on Fridays and sometimes even more often during extremely hot weather.
Field Trips: We take monthly field trips to places such as Como Zoo, county parks, The Children’s Museum, Eagles Nest, Gale Woods Farm, apple orchards, etc. We also sometimes take the children out for lunch to such places as Burger King or a picnic in the park. The children LOVE this part of our daycare and they look forward to each trip every month. We sometimes ask for a small fee to help pay for these activities. These trips are not required and one of us are available to stay behind at the daycare with the children not going on the field trip. We also go to Tots Open Gym at the Andover Community center on Tuesdays during the school year.
Safe Environment: We have child proofed our daycare extensively. Poisons and medicines are out of reach of children. We have a fire extinguisher. We have a carbon monoxide detector and smoke alarms. All electrical outlets are capped when not in use. We buy most toys used to avoid harmful chemicals in our air. We buy wood as much as possible.
Cleanliness: We practice good sanitation guidelines such as washing hands before preparing food, after changing diapers, wiping noses, etc. We teach the children good sanitation habits such as washing hands before and after eating and using the toilet. Good sanitation is important to us and we believe it helps keep the children healthy.
Emergency Drills: We have a monthly fire drill and storm drill as required by Anoka County. Your child will learn how to "stop, drop and roll," how to dial 911. They will learn their address and phone number as well as many other important things related to emergencies.
***Preschoolers are required to bring a backpack or bag with them daily because they will be bringing home lots of neat projects and their daily note.
Daycare Hours: Our hours are 6:30am - 6:00pm Monday through Friday. We also have a "Parent's Night Out" one or two Fridays each month for an additional fee.
We understand that things can happen that are not in your control such as unexpected slow traffic and you may run late picking up your child on occasion. If picking your child late becomes a frequent occurence, we do reserve the right to charge a $1.00 per minute fee and it could result in termination. Please understand that we have commitments after the daycare closes that we must attend to.
